Introduction and Registration

So, you've mastered the single-player game, now what? Do you think the fun of the game finished there? No! There is a lot more to discover - and the key for this is multiplayer gaming. In a nutshell it means playing vs other humans via the Internet. Multiplayer gaming is a thrilling experience, but unfortunately it can be a headache to get used to and enjoying its fun throughout without losing any of your gaming nirvana - hence here is this full guide to online play! Since the original S:TW is not played much online anymore, this concise guide will mainly tackle how to play The Mongol Invasion. However if you want to play the original Shogun online just use this STW Registration Page and follow the same instructions. I will not focus on the technical sides of multiplayer, but this is a section appropriately written for newbies to help them get used to tips and customs related to the Shogun online world.

To play Shogun online you have to pass through two registration processes. These are the official game registration and the Shogun player registration. First you have to register the game - do this by going to the MI Registration Page. Click on the mask and a new page will come up. Fill in the requested info and press "Register Now!". You will be taken to a new page, where you will be requested to fill in further info. Do this and once you're ready, press "Submit Update Now". Accept the EA Terms & Conditions and you are taken directly to the player regisration page. Choose a family name, a nickname, a password and a clan. Fill in the information needed and press submit. An e-mail notification message should have been sent to you as well. Take note of the family name, nickname and password because you will need them to log onto the EA server. If you ever want to create a new name, just go back to the MI Registration Page and go directly to the player registation page by logging on using your previously selected username and password.

Once you're ready with registration launch Shogun and go to multiplayer > play on EA|Play. Choose your previously selected family name and type the nickname and password. Press Connect. Once you log in you can finally enjoy the wonderful world of Shogun online!

Make sure you have the latest patch installed or else you will get a "network mismatch" error each time you try to join a game. One is also adviced to download the latest map pack with hundreds of custom maps all packed in one zip file! Find the latest patches and map packs on the Files section of The Org.
