The gunpowder weapons introduced to the Japanese by the Portugese were crude, and this is reflected in the game. They cannot outshoot archers, and need to have direct line of sight. They do not often work in the rain, either. To use arquebusiers effectively, you need to use them in great numbers at close range, where they can create a devastating effect on the enemy, often causing them to flee. The bullets penetrate armour much more readily than arrows, but beware the slow reload time.
