== B. Campaign ==

Our cooperative SP campaign consists of the following components.

1. Generals

a. Every member has the right to adopt one general in the clan. The choice of general is determined at the beginning sign up "(A2)" and subsequent sign-ups "(A3)".

b. The clan should try its best to ensure that every member has a few battles to command and "therefore gets to submit his/her battle story to the clan.

c. A general is responsible for personally playing all battles COMMANDED by the general he adopted. He should obtain the save game file from the campaign executor (B4). All members are encouraged to make some informative screenshots during the battle (the more the better). The new save game file (with the completed battle) and the log file should be emailed back to the executor  within 24 hours of its original delivery. Special request of extension should be made before the 24 hr deadline. The maximum time allowed is 48 hours (24 + 24).

d. The general is responsible for writing up the story of each battle he plays. The story and screenshots should be emailed to the campaign publisher (B5). The story and screenshots should be submitted within 72 hours, 48 hours after the save game deadline.

e. Except private arrangement, prior notice should be given in our forum if, under ALL circumstances, a general wishes to let another member fight his battle. If a general fails to make such announcement prior to the executor's battle assignment, the executor has the right to assign a member to play the battle or play it himself. A new time restriction will apply (24 hours for the save game file back to the executor, and so on).

f. Free (unassigned) members are those who have not adopted a general for any reason. Free members stay in the line up and will be called to play a battle that is commanded by an un-adopted general in game. He will then be assigned to this general and the line-up moves forward. All free members can still participate in the clan meetings and adopt a free general (through a public post in the sushi bar of our own forum) whenever possible.

g. If there are multiple battles in one season on different provinces, the member who signed up first (at the very beginning of the campaign) will command all the battles in this season and write up the story.

h. If a member's general dies under his own command on the battlefield, the member can choose another an un-adopted general in "the" game. He"/she" will then be assigned to this general and the line-up "of members here moves forward. If a member's general dies NOT under his own command on the battlefield, the member can choose another free general OR go to the TOP of the line-up.

i. The Spy Master position is equal to any of the general's but is below the Daimyo's. He/she tells the clan story from the angle of the emissary or shinobi or ninja and sends screen shots (F2) if they are available from the Executor with the story to the Publisher. Any important events are also put in the appropriate forum by the Spy Master.

j. Members are encouraged to participate in the clan meetings and forums. We all have an equal say

k. Members should obey the decision of clan meeting and the official clan daimyo.

2. Clan Meetings & Advisor

a. Clan meetings should be held in public in the clan meeting dojo. Every member is encouraged to speak out "and give his/her opinion. The public are also welcome to join in the discussions but their "votes" will not count in the clan meetings during a campaign etc.

b. The default meeting time is every winter (except Spring 1530). The meetings are chaired by the clan advisor, who appears as the sage sitting on the left of the clan daimyo in the game. Each meeting shall usually be limited to 24 hours.

c. The advisor has the decision power of how the meeting goes, such as a vote, or one word from the clan Daimyo. The advisor should try his best to be fair and efficient.

d. The advisor is responsible for gathering the meeting (start a new thread in Clan Meeting Dojo) and announce the meeting period (how long the meeting lasts). He/She also needs to inform the members of the meeting objectives and announce the results when the meeting period is over. The Advisor shall always count the opinions of the clan members and decide in favor of the majority of members who voted.

e. The decision of the meeting, whether through a vote or not, should be taken as the decision of the clan until the next (emergency) meeting takes place. Any further changes after the meeting is adjourned must be supported by at least 2 members (including the initiator) PLUS the approval by the daimyo. If the daimyo himself propose a change of the meeting decision, he must obtain at least the support of 2 other members.

f. The Advisor shall also try to start new threads in the Strategy Dojo which will help members discuss and think about options or plans prior to the clan meetings.

g. Emergency meetings can be chaired by the advisor, whenever he considers it necessary.

3. Clan Daimyo

a. The official daimyo is the ONLY head and representative of the clan and should be highly respected. Hail to the clan daimyo!

b. The official daimyo plays the true daimyo of the game. If this character dies in the game, then whoever plays the new daimyo will become the new official daimyo. If the person who is the heir next in line declines to be the new Daimyo, then his general shall be forwarded to the person who is becoming the new Daimyo. The former heir shall be offered the highest available vacant general name or he can select any available vacant general in the clan.

c. The clan daimyo may decide everything except conclusions reached in a previous clan meeting. It is also possible that the clan daimyo is asked to make a decision for a particular issue in the clan meeting.

d. All confusions and conflicts should be resolved by the clan daimyo, whether through a meeting or a personal decision.

4. Executor

a. The campaign is going to be coordinated by an executor who carries out the clan decisions on the strategy map, and transfers the save game files between clan members and himself. The executor is the busiest person in the clan and should be greatly respected.

b. There is no deadline for the executor due to the fluctuating nature of his work.

c. The executor should try his best to obey the decision of the clan meeting and the official daimyo. If he didn't do so, other members can request a re-play (load game). However, the executor is free to make a decision that is not covered by the clan meeting or the official daimyo. Common sense must prevail.

d. For all battles fought on the battlefield, the commander should make a war notice in the battle dojo. The executor has the power to issue a reasonable counter attack, and assign generals to the battlefield as long as the executor considers it appropriate. In this case, the executor should also make a "war notice" in the battle dojo as soon as possible.

e. In the clan meeting, the executor should make a simple report of what he has done since the last meeting IF not stated in the forum or war story already. This should be done as soon as possible after the new Clan Meeting has been posted by the Advisor in the Clan Meeting forum.

f. The executor tells the story of the strategy map, and submits the story along with the screen shots to the publisher (see B5) about once per game year. The Executor should try and save any important emissary or shinobi or ninja events for the Spy Master and send him the screen shots for inclusion in his story.

g. The executor needs to save the game every season, and pass the save game files to members who constantly need updated information, such as the reserve clan daimyo, advisor, and the spy master. The executor does NOT have to stop and wait for a further instruction if nothing seriously unexpected has occurred in the campaign.

h. Whenever a battle occurs, the executor should send the save-game file of the previous season to the member who plays the general that command the coming battle. If there are multiple battles in different provinvces, the commanding power belongs to the member who signed up first if there is no prior notice.

i. The member should finish his battle and return the new save game file to the executor in a full 24 hours. If the member fails to do so, the executor (or whoever he assigns) will fight the battle for him. Special request of extension should be made prior to the deadline, up to a maximum of 48 hours.

j. The executor should personally play (or assign someone else to play) a battle that is commanded by an un-adopted general. This will happen only if there are currently no free members (B1, d) in the line up of generals.

k. The executor is responsible for keeping several most recent seasons of the save game files as well as ALL battle logs. He should also take screenshots of the strategy maps for the Publisher (see B5).

I. The executor has the right to gather an emergency meeting in the clan meeting dojo if he considers it necessary; for example, the clan is under unexpected invasion. It is suggested that only local generals join the emergency meeting to decide whether to fight or retreat.

5. Publisher

a. The publisher should collect the stories from the executor and generals, and publish it within 48 hours of delivery from the source.

b. The war story is published on this website (hosted by www.totalwar.org) and open to the public. The publisher has the right to edit the content of the submitted war stories if necessary.

c. The very deadline of story publication is the n+2 year. This means all stories happened between the first and second year should be published before the third year begins. The publisher should link all missing pieces of the war story.

6. Reserves

a. Reserves are the backup members of a certain position, sharing a reasonable amount of workload.

7. Others

a. Any member who feels that he cannot fulfill the duties can announce a resignation.

b. If any clan member (everyone mentioned above) is doing a poor job, ANY member can suggest a replacement (by starting a thread stating who is nominated to replace). The support of more than 60% of the members is needed for this to replacement vote to succeed.

c. If there are not enough members at any point of the game (announced by the executor who plays all the unassigned generals), each member may adapt more than one general.

d. The clan daimyo, executor, publisher, advisor, spymaster (reserves included) and active Generals should have a sense of commitment. If one fails to respond to his duty within 24 hours of the Post time without prior notice more than three times, he will be asked to explain the situation in another 24 hours or his position will be replaced by the reserve or another volunteer.

e. A vacation is perfectly acceptable as long as one makes a prior notice in public in the General talk Dojo of the forum. Try to give as much notice as you can so the other clan members can make alternative arrangements while you are away.
