Chapter 1    Ronins

As we know, on expert level we must attack and attack. While being Oda, if the ronins attack us early then we will be in big trouble. Therefore, the best solution it to take them out as soon as possible. Beat their monks using our ashigarus and archers!

1530 Spring

Ise Invasion

Because neither the rebels nor the AI daimyos attack our empty province in the very first season, we comfortably drew all of our available forces to attack Ise. Soldier number ratio is  491 : 360.

The ronin's army consists of purely monks and archers, while we have 4 archers, 4 ashigarus and daimyo Oda Nobuhide. Instead of having one proud Taisho unit hidden in the eastern forest, the entire enemy army confidently marched forward. One of their archers even came down the shallow valley and started a duel with 2 of ours (4 of us, soon after this snap shot).

In the meantime, our archers formed an L shape to surround the enemy better, with ashigaru units sitting on the two wings attempting for a wrap-up in case the enemy decides to charge down the valley.

Here the monks came! However, none of our ashigaru units were brave enough to direcly face this furious foe. As a result Nobuhide the daimyo decides to take it personally. The east flank 2 ashigaru units soon followed his two flanks.

Not shown in this picture, another two monk units charged towards our west flank. To stop them, half of the west flank ashigarus gave their lives and is about to waver. Also fighting the enemy Taisho monk unit, Nobuhide lost all his loyal bodyguards at this point.

Fortunately the enemy general turned around and fled first. A chain effect happened and enemy's west flank also ran away.

Although the chase was not effective due to the difference in our running speed, the battle was won. The enemy lost 56% of their units while we lost 24%. Although the monks are furious, they cannot stand in the rain of arrow for too long.

1530 Autumn

Yamashiro Invasion

Soon after Ise was conqured, Nobuhide left just enogh troops in Ise to continue the siege and prepare to take over the 2nd ronin province inside Oda's territory - Yamashiro (the emperor's province).

The fight had a similar soldier number ratio 469 : 360. The enemy again has a mixture of monks and archers. All of their monks hid in the forests on the west. This gives us a good chance to rain arrows on them. As soon as our archers are in position the enemy taisho emerge from the forest.

Again here comes our brave Nobuhide and his bodyguards! The west flank ashigarus soon follows the daimyo and charged. The enemy Taisho ran for his life!

Nobuhide caught their taisho in the woods! The enemy now ran even faster.

A quick victory was achieved. The emperor soon declared his support of the Oda clan.

Losing only 133 men, lord Oda conqurered the two ronin provinces and is now ready for his conquest of all Japan. Should he go east or west first?
