Questing Contest - Wednesday, March 27, 2002
Magyar Khan is organising a great contest for hardcore, known players called the Questing Contest and in it players will match their skills against the elite players of the community. Names like Magyar himself, Kocmoc, AMP and Paolai are already tangible proof of this! This event is very practical in its running and players have to download a special "campaigntool" to participate. The contest site can be found here and it is a must to download the campaigntool and read the relevant instructions. Mind that this competition is for experts of the game only.

Another great online campaign is AggonyDom's Campaign, it looks promising, worth a look! Moreover we have a new hosted site - Clan Kenchikuka, the oldest active clan in Shogun!

Sword Dojo Re-Opened - Sunday, March 17, 2002
The nightmare is finally over and the Sword Dojo has been officially re-opened after a clearing up of all topics over 60 days old. This pruning was done because the size of the dojo was creating problems to the Telefragged server and it was absolutely necessary to delete as much posts as possible. We must state that most of the posts are in the Off-Topic forum and the biggest threads in OT were non-productive, spam topics, and these were deleted. Hence we must stress that useless posts must be limited and topics that develop in spam areas will be deleted.

Moreover we will conduct pruning of the forums regularly and old topics will be removed.

Sword Dojo Down - Tuesday, March 12, 2002
This evening the Telefragged server crashed and when it came back up for some unknown reason our great Sword Dojo was marked as "Forbidden". We investigated the problem thoroughly and we found out that the user permissions for the UBB folder were all messed up and we're waiting for intervention from the Telefragged people to resolve this problem, as we were utterly unable to do anything about it.

We don't know precisely the cause of this trouble but probably something went wrong when the TF server were back up. Whatever the reason, we will try our best to get our forums back up as soon as possible. Stay tuned for more updates.

DreadMasters Clan Disbands - Monday, March 11, 2002
Sad news at the dawn of this new week. The great DreadMasters Clan has just been officially disbanded. The clan, who was recently featured on the mainpage, has had a long, glorious history and was considered to be one of the few elite clans that ever graced our community. Their daimyo, Boromir, is also one of the moderators on our forums. We are deeply saddened by this news and we hope to see the DreadMasters back up and running when Medieval: Total War is released. In the meantime we thank them for all they've done for our community! Following is a message by DreadStar, the emissary of the DreadMasters:

Noblest member of the community, honoured members of Clans and esteemed staff of the Org. It is my duty as Emissary to the Dreadmasters clan to bring to you the news of our Clan disbannment. We have achieved what we have set out to do and that was to elevate the clan to its most respectable standing and also contribute to the players the true meaning of honour and fair play. From the beginning the DreadMasters (started off as Masters) goal was to become one of the most honoured and respected clans in the community. Through careful selection and guidance, we recruited new members (through the Master clan) and those who proved worthy of honour and loyalty to both the Clan and the Shogun community would continue on to become Dreads. We have had many memorable moments on the battlefield with some of the most respected clans and players. We feel that we cannot exceed what we have already achieved as a Clan. It is time to go on to other communities and continue there, where we left off here in the Shogun community. The respected members of the community (too many to mention) have left an impact on us as we hope to have left an impact on others as well. Special thanks to the Org. and all the clans who have shown the same honour and gamesmanship that we’ve tried to spread throughout the Shogun community. It has been both an honour and a pleasure to have played and conversed with everyone but now we must go.

Honourable mentions: The Org., Tenki, Aggony’s, Lrossa, Celts, Ugly’s, Wolves, LOD, Space Cowboys, Mizu’s, RW’s, Fear, Rage, Elite and all of the Ronin’s with whom I’ve had the pleasure of playing with. For those of you with whom we’ve failed to mention, please accept our humblest apologies, as there was no intention of forgetting anyone who have been friends of the Dreadmastes. Finally, to Boromir, who without him, the Dreadmasters would never have been a reality.

New Online Campaign - Monday, March 11, 2002
Toda Nebuchadnezzar is organising a new online campaign based loosely on the famous Clans' Campaign one but it will be historically accurate as much as possible. The main idea would be that instead of having a few clans there would be roughly 25 different clans who consist of three players each. For a detailed rules list visit the Campaign's site and to sign-up please go this this thread and post the requested details. This campaign involves a lot of work and research, thanks and good luck to the organisers!

Richie of TotalWar.Com also sent us an email with a M:TW update:

Well just another quick hello and update really. I was helping out with testing some of the historical battles last week and I was really impressed at the level of detail that was going into the balancing. The guy that designed the battle I was playing, has a degree in history and archaeology, so he certainly knows his stuff.

To conclude we have a new official Medieval: Total War logo and you can download a zip file containing a gif, jpg and psd (photoshop) versions of it here. You can see the GIF version below.
Thank Richie of TotalWar.Com for these!
