RTW traits and triggers. - Monday, November 8, 2004
Poohbear mailed this to me:

I entered the data from the export_desc_*.txt files into Excel and did some calculations on the character traits and triggers.
Essentially I've summarised the various traits and triggers (eg. city buildings, winning battles, temples) and come up with numerical answers to which triggers are good, and exactly how good they are.

It actually answers questions like:
"Which is better for my general - to stay in a city with city plumbing, or with a governor's house?"
(Ans: Both are bad, but city plumbing is worse)
"Does the temple of Bacchus, Ceres, or Jupiter produce better traits and ancillaries?"
(Ans: Jupiter has the best traits, but Bacchus has the best ancillaries)
"Does my governor get a trait increase if I build a market, academy, or a port?"
(Ans: All three help, but port has the highest chance, followed by market)
I've also included the raw Excel file and instructions so you can experiment for yourself and change the weightages or priorities.

The site is at Poohbear http://www.geraldtan.com/rtw Thought I'd share it with everyone, and was hoping you could put a link to it on totalwar.org. Would be most honoured!
Cheers!

Thanks for sharing this with us Poohbear.

RPG for Rome by Amirsan - Friday, November 5, 2004
Strategic Command Center's Rome Total War RPG is a forum/text-based game inspired by Glen Botto’s Wargame.
Amirsan of Pontus has created the RPG game for the SCC forums to give all Rome: Total War player the closest anyone can get to a multiplayer campaign which is impossible in the actual game.

In the RPG you will be able to manage your empire, cities and diplomacy in the forum, and then battle your enemies using the actual game and its magnificent 3D engine.
The rules are based on the actual game, as well as the settings, though the game-play system is based on the Wargame.
