It turns out, and this might be worth repeating elsewhere, that there is only one version of the patch, but it contains the English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish text. If you have e.g. the French version of Windows, then French will be the initial language selection when you install the patch. The Asian builds are shipping "pre-patched", so there's no v1.1 patch for Thai, Korean, Japanese, or Simplified / Traditional Chinese; if you install one of those versions, you're installing v1.1 of the game.
